Report: Roos circling young Giants defender

2018-10-04T18:13+10:00

North Melbourne are weighing up a move for GWS defender Jeremy Finlayson, according to AFL.com.au.

Finlayson is contracted until the end of 2020, but has been notified by the Giants to consider his future as the club look to avoid another salary cap squeeze situation in the future.

A meeting between the Roos and the 22-year-old’s manager - Dave Trotter of Hemisphere Management Group – has taken place.

"We have had an initial meeting with North Melbourne," Trotter told AFL.com.au.

"Jeremy is just starting the process and there has been a bit of interest in him, which we will work through over the next week or so."

Jared Polec and Aaron Hall have already nominated North as their club of choice, while they continue to be linked with moves for West Coast’s Andrew Gaff and Sydney’s Nic Newman.

Finlayson - who signed a contract extension back in June - has played 15 games for the Giants since making his debut in 2017, with 14 of those coming this season.
