Wantaway Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard has nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination, according to 1116 SEN’s Sam McClure.

Wingard has been heavily linked with a move away from the Power and the Hawks are now the favourites to secure the services of the dual All-Australian.

“He’s made his decision and he has chosen Hawthorn Football Club as his preferred destination,” McClure told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“He’s obviously had to make a decision of a few clubs - not just Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs – but he also had the choice of staying at Port Adelaide with a year left on his contract.

“But the two-time All-Australian wants to be wearing brown and gold next year. Now it’s up to Hawthorn, Graham Wright and Jason Cripps to go to the trade table and get a deal done.”

The 25-year-old has played 147 games for the Power, booting 232 goals since debuting in 2012.
