Fox Sports football commentator Simon Hill doesn’t believe Usain Bolt is up to the required standard to play in the A-League.
Bolt’s hopes of securing a professional contract were boosted, after netting a brace for Central Coast in their 4-0 win over Macarthur South West United in a friendly last Friday night.
Hill scoffed at reports that the former Olympian has a two-year offer on the table from a top-flight European club.

“In all honesty, I think this might be the best outcome for football in Australia (if he decides to leave),” Hill told SEN Breakfast.
“I don’t mean any disrespect to Usain, he is obviously a legendary athlete in the sport that he chose to do.
“On the evidence that I’ve seen, I think many other people who watch football regularly – he’s not up to the standard that is required.
“I know he scored a couple of goals on Friday, the first one he took very well by the way, but it was against a team that had been thrown together in little under two weeks.
“If he’s got an offer to go to Europe, good luck to him. I personally don’t think he’s at the standard required to play in the A-League, so I can’t quite fathom how he would be going to AC Milan unless it’s a publicity stunt.”

Forging a professional football career at Bolt’s age is virtually an impossible task, according to Hill.
“There’s no doubting that he’s brought the A-League to everybody’s attention right around the world really,” Hill added.
“The problem is that you can’t learn to play our sport when you’re 32 – it’s not possible.
“In our game, you have got to start learning when you’re seven-eight years of age, it’s a very technical sport.
“It’s not about his physical attributes, it’s about the game awareness, it’s about his touch on the ball, it’s about how he reads the play.
“If he plays against a fully professional A-League team, at the pace the A-League is played at, I worry about his physical health – I think he can get seriously injured.”
