West Coast star Luke Shuey is hopeful a deal can be reached with Geelong that will see mature-age sensation Tim Kelly join the reigning premiers.
The Cats and the Eagles have been locked in talks regarding a trade for Kelly, who wants to return to his native state of Western Australia.
Shuey was impressed by the eye-catching performances from the 24-year-old in his debuting season at AFL level.
“He’s a star, he’s had a great year,” Shuey told SEN Afternoons.
“For a bloke, I know he’s 24, but to have the impact that he did – he’s a pretty special talent.

“Fingers crossed we can get the ball rolling today and hopefully by deadline we have him in West Coast colours.”
Kelly finished second in Geelong’s Best and Fairest and still has one-year to run on his current deal with the Cats.
