2018-10-30T15:20+11:00

Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman says star shooting guard Chris Goulding is a chance to return for this Saturday night’s clash against Cairns.

Goulding injured his knee during United’s double overtime loss to Perth in Round 3, but was cleared of any structural damage.

Vickerman is optimistic his star scorer will be passed fit for the trip Cairns after making “continual improvement” in his recovery.

“He saw a physio this morning and they were happy with the progress that they saw from yesterday,” Vicerkman told SEN Afternoons.

“There’s some chance that he may play against Cairns on the weekend.”

The reigning champions overcame the Illawarra Hawks 99-93 last night thanks to 26 points from star import Casper Ware.

Vickerman was delighted the team were able to main their scoring potency without Goulding on the floor.

“When you play 28 games in 18 weeks, every team at some stage is going to be missing key personnel,” Vickerman said.

“I think the teams that are able to deal with that and handle it are going to be the ones that are more likely are going to be in the playoff spots.
