Sydney confirm three delisted free agent targets

2018-11-01T07:12+11:00

Sydney list manager Kinnear Beatson has confirmed three players his club is targeting ahead of today’s delisted free agency window opening.

Teams will have until November 16th to sign players who have been delisted by other clubs and Beatson said the Swans will look closely at Daniel Menzel.

“There’s a possibility. Menzel is heading back to Melbourne soon and we’ll have a medical done on him and then once we’ve got all the facts, we’ll make a decision on which way we go there,” he told SEN Breakfast.

He also confirmed the club has already done medical testing on two other players.

“We’re on record that Jacob (Townsend) and Cam Sutcliffe came up, but until yesterday we weren’t exactly sure who sat in the free agency basket,” Beatson said.

“Now we do, so we can gather all the facts and work out what we want to do.”

Sydney has committed to father-son prospect Nick Blakey and Beatson broke down what Swans members can expect from him.

“He’s about 195cm now. Quick, left foot kick, in time he’ll become a forward,” he said.

“He’s just going to take a little bit of time for his body to fill out so he’ll play on a wing or flank initially.”

The Swans list manager explained where he thinks Blakey would go in the draft if he was available to everyone.

“I think he’d sits somewhere between four and ten (in the draft),” he said.

The 2018 National Draft takes place across November 22nd and November 23rd.
