Did the AFL nail Friday night footy?

2018-11-01T12:14+11:00

The AFL received a tonne of criticism in 2018 for their fixturing decisions and the lack of marquee games on Friday night.

The likes of Garry Lyon, Gerard Whateley and Tim Watson called them out, describing it as “a hack job”, “diabolical” and “spectacularly wrong”, among other things.

It would appear a clear effort has been made to ensure Friday night footy returns to being the marquee slot of the weekend, after the backlash of 2018.

Carlton, who had five Thursday or Friday night games in 2018, will be taken out of the spotlight, with Essendon, Melbourne, Collingwood and Richmond to be featured prominently.

Here’s the list of Friday night games for 2019. Did they get them right?
