Former St Kilda midfielder Nick Dal Santo believes the Western Bulldogs must spend the 2019 pre-season working out a winning formula up forward.
The Dogs averaged 71 points per game in 2018 and struggled to keep a consistent unit of players on the park together.
“This is a forward line that hasn’t posed many threats in the years since the Grand Final,” Dal Santo told SEN Afternoons.
“They need to put together a forward line player-wise, but also a game plan that fits that forward line where they can put up a competitive score consistently.
“Now I looked at their numbers from last (season), they averaged 71 points per game.
“I look at the opportunity to bring Josh Schache in to play more football, Tom Boyd, and they’ve also brought Sam Lloyd in from the Tigers.
“There’s enough there. They’re not the best players in the world, but there is enough to build a threat forward of the football structurally.”
The Bulldogs lost Luke Dahlhaus, Jordan Roughead and Marcus Adams to Geelong, Collingwood and Brisbane respectively in the trade period, but brought in Lloyd and Hawthorn's Taylor Duryea.
