The Stork’s tips for Zipping Classic at Sandown and more

2018-11-17T10:30+11:00

SEN's The Stork was slightly fatigued after a hectic spring but a good week’s sleep has fixed that.

This weekend we will focus on the Zipping Classic meeting at Sandown while also spreading our wings far and wide around the country in search of a winner or two.

Let’s have a bit of fun, but The Stork wants you to gamble responsibly!

Listen to The Odds Couple with Simon O'Donnell, Simon Marshall and form expert David Taggart for all the latest racing news on 1116SEN.

Review of Stakes Day

One of our bets of the day at Flemington - Blair House in the Mackinnon Stakes - was very disappointing. Not a great result, especially as it let down The Stork’s Multi #1.

Dissimilar to Jaameh who got the job done for The Stork and his loyal followers.

Spirit Of Valor peaked on his run a bit early in the VRC Sprint while Sheezdashing ran on nicely as expected, but copping interference on the turn and having to change course on two occasions didn’t help her cause.

The Stork had a stellar day in Sydney yet again, nailing a trio of winners and landing a collect from the value bet.

Royal Celebration and Sky Boy were both short but both won easily and the double was near $4 early in the day. Good work if you took it, like The Stork did!

Bon Amis was crunched in after opening the day at around $4.30 and won like a good thing. Regimen ran on nicely for second at around $2.60 the place to cap off a winning day.

SANDOWN

BEST
Bring Me Roses appears to have Race 4 at her mercy following a fantastic runner-up result in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes.

In a smaller field, she is unlikely to be so far back from the leader therefore won’t have to round them all up.

Mask Of Time clearly the danger but the the mare should be flying first past the post underneath Ollie.

In Race 3, Into The Abyss gets her chance to clinch a win this spring.

Has been quite good in three runs this campaign and a wide draw on the Sandown track should suit.

Recommendation: Back Bring Me Roses to WIN. Back Into The Abyss to WIN.

VALUE
Secret Blaze ran very well in the Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington at big odds and The Stork is expecting the Tony McEvoy gelding to run well again here in the Sandown Guineas (Race 7).

$8.40 looks a very nice price but don’t go mad as it is a competitive 3YO equine speed contest with Ringerdingding and Seabrook well fancied, among others.

The super consistent Spending To Win looks a great each-way hope in Race 9 and the $7.30 on offer is appealing indeed.

Last time the Snowden-trained sprinter raced, he beat Eduardo who subsequently ran second in the Gilgai (Group 2) before winning the Caulfield Sprint at that level.

Great form for a race like this.

Recommendation: Back Secret Blaze EACH-WAY. Back Spending To Win EACH-WAY.

ROSEHILL

BEST
In Race 7, Isaurian will be looking to bounce back strongly.

Can get a much better sit up on the pace from barrier one and if that happens, will be very hard to beat.

Is around $3.40 this morning and that looks a nice price.

Stablemate Roheryn looks to have a mortgage on the opening event but at $1.50 is way too short for The Stork.

In order to get a bit more value for Isaurian, double them up at around $5.25.

Recommendation: Back Isaurian to WIN. Double with Roheryn.

VALUE
Another Godolphin runner, Deft, represents rock solid value in Race 8.

The resuming Seasons will be the hot favourite but if she is to find bad luck, Deft will be there to pounce.

In the last of the day, Race 9, Catesby seems to be well over the odds after beating Sexy Eyes last start who has won twice since.

Tough race with a decent field but the number 7 looks super value at around $16.

Recommendation: Back Deft EACH-WAY. Back Catesby EACH-WAY.

MORPHETTVILLE

BEST
After two 1600m seconds from near last in a row, it’s time for Box On Collins to get the job done now.

Rises in distance, which will suit perfectly, and gets a change of rider. Stick with.

In Race 3 in Adelaide, Laure Me In is primed to win after being beaten a lip last time.

Stays in the same class, at the same weight and rises in distance just 50 metres.

Both of these are well under $3 so worth doubling them up to both win for a bit more value at $5.90.

Recommendation: Back Box On Collins to WIN. Back Laure Me In to WIN. Double them up.

DOOMBEN

BEST
In Race 5, Zoustar three-year-old Zoustyle looks the winner.

Spanked his rivals in both starts last campaign.

The price isn’t ideal so suit yourself, but could be worth doubling into The Stork’s value bet if you are feeling that way inclined.

Recommendation: Back Zoustyle to WIN (if not ridiculously short). Double into Tyzone.

VALUE
Tyzone looks a great chance in Race 8.

Loves racing first-up, is a fan of this distance and races today for the solid combo of Maloney and Edmonds.

In the last, Race 9, you could do worse than back Jaminzah each-way.

Jeff Lloyd and Chris Waller team up with the gelding who races well fresh and is at a lovely price of around $11.

Recommendation: Back Tyzone EACH-WAY. Double out of Zoustyle. Back Jaminzah EACH-WAY.

ASCOT

BEST

The Stork has picked out three runners all well in the market in Perth.

In Race 2, Arcadia Prince should be bang on to win, although will be fairly skinny.

In Race 5, Dainty Tess looks set for another victory steaming over the top.

Race 7 has The Stork looking right at Action for hopefully a third win of the day in the west.

Let’s get funky and multi them up (see The Stork’s Ascot Multi).

Recommendation: Back Arcadia Prince (if closer to $2) to WIN. Back Dainty Tess to WIN. Back Action to WIN.
