Report: Pies take pay cut to squeeze Beams in

2018-11-30T07:03+11:00

Numerous senior Collingwood players have reportedly taken a pay cut to help fit Dayne Beams into the Magpies’ tight salary cap.

The Herald Sun has stated up to 12 Pies were approached to defer some of their 2019 salaries to later years in their contract, to help ensure the club can satisfy Beams’ four-year deal.

“The players know they are in the window and they want to win a premiership,” a Collingwood player's manager told the newspaper.

Along with Beams’ contract situation, The Age has reported star midfielders Adam Treloar and Steele Sidebottom will both extent their current deals by a further year, tying them to the Magpies until the end of 2022.

Will Hoskin-Elliott is also expected to extent his tenure at Collingwood.
