AFL.com.au has released an incredible behind the scenes look at their draft-night trade with Adelaide.
It was the trade that shocked the footy landscape, with the Blues giving up their future first-round pick for pick 19 and Adelaide's future first.
The video shows the lead-up to Adelaide’s pick 19 and Carlton’s list management team, led by Stephen Silvagni, watching Sandringham’s Liam Stocker slide down the draft.
In the video, it’s revealed the Blues had Stocker ranked sixth on their draft board, rating his kicking ability and toughness.
As the draft goes on and Stocker remains on the board, Carlton put several calls in to the Crows, and one also to the Power, to see whether they wanted to do the trade.
Adelaide wanted to do the deal early, but the Blues remained adamant they had to wait until the pick before to make sure their guy would still be there.
The tension rises as Port Adelaide makes their pick at 18, taking Xavier Duursma.
Carlton then quickly called Adelaide once again, telling them they would do the deal.
Adelaide now holds Carlton’s future first-round pick, while the Blues left the draft with a guy they rated sixth, as well as Sam Walsh who they took with pick one.
