Vice-captain signs on with Sydney

2018-12-07T16:28+11:00

The Sydney Swans have announced the re-signing of defender Dane Rampe.

The vice-captain, 28, has penned a three-year extension on the existing contract that was due to expire at the end of 2019, meaning he will remain a Swan until at least the end of 2022.

2016 All-Australian Rampe was initially taken in the rookie draft in 2012 and has gone on to play 138 games in the red and white.

“We’re really excited that Dane has committed his future to Sydney, 12 months out from qualifying for free agency,” Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardiner told sydneyswans.com.au.

“Dane’s a terrific person and has become an integral leader of not only our backline but our whole team.

“We’re looking forward to Dane continuing to play a key role for us and leading our group over the off-season and in years to come.”

Rampe joins Jake Lloyd, Tom McCartin, Aliir Aliir, Will Hayward, Ben Ronke, Ryley Stoddart, Matt Ling and Sam Naismith to have re-signed with Sydney in 2018.
