St Kilda forward Jack Lonie says the club is already reaping the rewards of recruiting Dan Hannebery and Billy Slater.
Hannebery joined the Saints on a five-year deal this off-season, while NRL great Slater has come on board in a part-time mentoring role.
“You can just tell he (Hannebery) is a real competitor,” Lonie told SEN Breakfast.
“He’s very fierce in his standards, but he’s quick to get people’s heads up if they need it.
“He’s been fantastic so far, we’re very excited about what he’s going to bring.
“He’s fit in really well.”
Lonie also feels that despite Slater achieving what he did in a different code, his experience has been invaluable.
“He’s just a different voice,” Lonie said.
“He’s obviously got so much experience, although it’s in a different sport, a lot of it does translate to what we’re trying to do.
“He’s been awesome, he’s helped a little bit with the tackling side of things as well, with a bit of technique stuff there.
“Really what he’s bringing is just those standards around the club, and holding people accountable.
“All the boys are trying to pick his brain as much as possible.”
Lonie recently signed a two-year contract extension with St Kilda, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2020.
The 22-year-old has played 50 games and kicked 44 goals in his AFL career so far.
