Three-time All-Australian Nick Dal Santo says Carlton should consider a move for retired defender Brendon Goddard to replace the injured Sam Docherty.
Docherty, 25, will miss the entire 2019 campaign after sustaining his second ACL injury at pre-season training on Monday.
Dal Santo thinks Goddard’s skill-set makes him a suitable replacement for the luckless Blue.

“I think it makes sense,” Dal Santo told SEN Breakfast.
“You think of the style that Docherty plays and you think of the style that Goddard plays, I’m thinking more ball-in-hand, skilful and makes good decisions.
“The question with Goddard will be brought up about speed and whether the game is too fast for him, but I think his name needs to be raised or looked at from a Carlton perspective.
“Stephen Silvagni was at St Kilda as an assistant coach for at least three years under Ross Lyon and would have worked closely with Brendon Goddard as a defender, so he knows him very well.
“I think his name needs to be raised.”
Carlton have until the eve of the 2019 season to seek a replacement for Docherty under a new AFL rule that allows clubs to sign previously listed players as Category A rookies
Goddard, 33, announced his retirement last week after playing 334 games for St Kilda and Essendon.
