Sydney recruit Daniel Menzel has undergone groin surgery after pulling up sore last week, according to The Herald Sun.
The forward won’t resume training until February with the Swans hopeful he will be fit and available for their season opener against the Western Bulldogs.
Menzel’s final year at Geelong was ruined by a groin complaint after booting 14 goals in the opening four rounds of the season.
The 27-year-old joined the Swans as a delisted free agent on a one-year deal after being culled by the Cats.
Taken with pick 17 in the 2009 draft, Menzel has kicked 136 goals in 73 AFL games.
