1116 SEN ready for a summer of cricket

2018-12-18T12:30+10:00

Melbourne’s Home of Sport 1116 SEN has finished the year on a 3.1% share, with a cumulative audience of 259,000 in the GfK Survey 8 results released today (All People, 10+, Monday – Sunday).

Pacific Star Network CEO and Managing Director Craig Hutchison said the slight correction reflected a lack of live sport in the November sports cycle.

“We take a long-term view with the station and will continue to invest in content that drives interest from sports fans. November is generally a quieter time for sport, but we are really bullish with our attack across summer with our recently signed cricket rights deal,” Hutchison said.

Test cricket is currently live on 1116 SEN with Chief Sports Caller Gerard Whateley leading the commentary team alongside Anthony Hudson, Jack Heverin and cricket experts Simon Katich, Damien Fleming, Mel Jones and Aakash Chopra calling the ball-by-ball action. From tomorrow night, 1116 SEN will start its coverage of the Big Bash League – exclusively covering all 59 games right across the summer.

“As a business, we launched 1629 SEN SA at the start of the First Test, we’ve got a new SEN app in market, SEN2 and SEN3 across DAB, as well as the addition of the second sports station, 1377 SEN+,” Hutchison said.

“Passion and participation for sports like Basketball, A League and NFL is on the rise with younger audiences – and we look forward to being at the forefront of these emerging sports in 2019”, he added.

1116 SEN’s digital figures were also positive:

• over 22.4 million page views on SEN.com.au (up 33.29% on same period 2017)
• 13.9 million news article reads (up 36.12% on same period 2017)
• The SEN app has 157,780 app users (up 37.28% on same period 2017)
