Amon "happy" to be back at Port after failed trade request

2019-01-11T10:27+11:00

After requesting a trade that didn’t end up eventuating, Port Adelaide midfielder Karl Amon said he’s happy to be back at Alberton.

Amon wished to return to Victoria and admits he and coach Ken Hinkley spoke in depth about the situation during the 2018 season.

“Ken and I had some honest conversations towards the end of the season and we sort of came to the conclusion that if there was an opportunity elsewhere especially back home (in Victoria), both parties would look at it,” Amon told SEN SA Breakfast.

“We were comfortable seeing what was out there.

“The fact that I’m back here, I’m happy here, and I was lucky enough to have another contract at Port Adelaide.

“In terms of goal-setting, I just want to put my best foot forward and lock down a spot in the best 22.”

Amon said walking back in the door at Port Adelaide after requesting a trade wasn’t an issue at all.

“Coming back, it was like nothing had happened really,” he said.

“There’s a great group of boys here and they welcomed me back. It was easy coming back.”
