Cameron expected to be "ready to go" for 2019

2019-01-10T11:40+11:00

Star Brisbane small forward Charlie Cameron will be ready to go for the 2019 season according to teammate Eric Hipwood.

Cameron, who started his first season with the Lions in fantastic form, ruptured the Lisfranc ligament in his foot in June, missing the rest of the year.

Hipwood expects him to be fine, despite a slight setback in his rehab.

“He should be ready to go, he played a practice match before the end of the year,” Hipwood told SEN Breakfast.

“He had a little hiccup with his quad, but he’s fine, he only missed one session.”

Hipwood kicked 37 goals in 2018, starting to come into his own, but the lean 21-year-old wants to put on some size over the course of the 2019 season.

“I’ve put on a kilo at the moment, but we’ve just got to be smart with it so I don’t lose my athleticism and my speed. It’s going to be a slow process and you’ve got to be smart when you put on weight,” he said.

The Lions lost former captain Dayne Beams to Collingwood in the trade period, but picked up two-time Fremantle best and fairest winner Lachie Neale.
