Why Dal Santo is worried about GWS

2019-01-11T08:39+11:00

Nick Dal Santo has revealed he’s worried about GWS and whether they’ll be able to take the next step.

The former St Kilda midfielder sees a bit of his old side in the Giants, particularly during their run in the late 2000’s where they had multiple chances to win premierships and fell short.

The Saints made successive Grand Finals across 2009 and 2010, but also made a Preliminary Final in 2008.

GWS meanwhile made prelims in 2016 and 2017. They were eliminated in the Semi Finals by Collingwood last season.

“This is what concerns me about the Giants, I see a bit of what we felt like in the late 2000’s with the Saints in GWS,” Dal Santo told SEN Breakfast.

“We were always around the mark and you think if we keep giving this much effort, we’ll ultimately get what we want being a premiership, but it doesn’t always happen like that.

“They’ve gone to the well, they’ve lost two prelims and got knocked out in the mid-rounds last year, my only concern is this game doesn’t give you anything.

“They’re still around the same mark they’ve been for three or four years, they’ve lost a few players, I’m just starting to get concerned that the players leaving are having a greater impact than what’s coming in.”
