No drastic game plan changes coming to Saints says Phillips

2019-01-15T08:06+11:00

St Kilda youngster Ed Phillips isn’t expecting any massive structural changes at the Saints this season, despite a coaching overhaul.

After a disappointing 2018 yielded just four victories, Alan Richardson reshuffled his assistants, bringing in the likes of Brett Ratten and Brendon Lade.

However, Phillips says a completely new system hasn’t been implemented throughout the pre-season.

“I don’t know if it will be drastically different,” Phillips told SEN Breakfast.

“I think our game plan is changing a little bit but it’s based on the main strengths that we as a Saints team have played under over the last couple years.

“We are sticking to that and really trying to exenterate our strengths as a team.

“Obviously the addition of Ratts and Ladey has been really good to the coaching staff and they’ve had a good positive impact early on.

“Looking forward to keep developing on the training track with the whole team and learning the new stuff and trying to implement that when games start coming around.”

St Kilda begins their 2019 campaign on March 24 against the Gold Coast Suns.
