North Melbourne tall Majak Daw has today penned an open letter to fans, thanking them for their support during his convalescence.

Daw, 27, fell from the Bolte Bridge just days before Christmas and has been recovering since.

"To all our beloved fans and members, I just wanted to thank everyone for their love and support over the past month," Daw writes in a short letter published on the North Melbourne Football Club website.

"I’m making huge strides with my recovery, both physically and mentally.

"I have been blessed with a second chance at life.

"My attitude and outlook towards everything has improved."

Daw, a powerful roaming defender whose standing in the AFL grew by leaps and bounds in recent seasons, stated his desire to return to the footy field at some point.

"I hope to be back out there playing in the blue and white stripes soon.

"Thank you all for respecting my need for privacy and for giving me the chance to get better going forward."

Majak Daw is the first Sudanese-born man to play in the AFL, notching his 50th game during the 2018 season.
