Higgins throws support behind AFLX

2019-01-21T08:05+11:00

North Melbourne midfielder Shaun Higgins has thrown his support behind AFLX, saying if he is drafted to one of the teams, he will play.

Criticism has come of the tournament with the superhero style theming frustrating some fans wanting to see serious footy or none at all.

As a player, Higgins said he enjoyed the experience last year.

“I think it will be a bit of fun. I played last year and I played the year before when we had the trial, the AFL came down to North and we had the trial then,” Higgins told SEN Breakfast.

"It’s a bit of fun and I think as long as you look at it differently from the season proper, to be able to attract the best players in the competition to play in the upcoming month, I think fans will really enjoy it this year.

“If I get picked, I will play.”

AFLX will take place over one day on February 22nd at Marvel Stadium.
