Behaviour of Blues recruit Fasolo “embarrassing” says Watson

Tim Watson says Carlton recruit Alex Fasolo should be embarrassed by his behaviour over the weekend after breaking his arm in an alcohol fuelled incident.

Fasolo, 26, suffered a fractured radius in his left arm in a play fight at a house party on Saturday night and is expected to miss up to eight weeks, with the Blues confirming they’re investigating how the incident unfolded.

It continues Carlton’s horror run with injuries during the pre-season with the forward joining Sam Docherty, Matthew Kreuzer, Jarrod Pickett, Darcy Lang, Mitch McGovern and Liam Jones in the club’s injury ward.

“It’s not ideal though is it? You’re starting at a new club like Alex Fasolo and you’re wanting to do all the right things,” Essendon great Watson said on SEN Breakfast.

“This guy has got a little bit of baggage that he has taken with him, you want to do all the right things at your new club, and you find yourself in this situation.

“It is embarrassing to find yourself in that situation. Things haven’t gone well for them during this pre-season, and the last thing they wanted was somebody injuring themselves outside of their training regime.”

Former Western Bulldogs skipper Bob Murphy echoed Watson’s thoughts surrounding the circumstances of Fasolo’s injury.

“Imagine walking into the club the day after having to front the coach?” Murphy said.

“You haven’t earned your stripes yet, there’s no water in the well.”

Fasolo joined the Blues during the trade period after playing 101 games and kicking 133 goals for arch rivals Collingwood.
