No "bad blood" with Port: Polec

2019-01-29T12:18+11:00

North Melbourne recruit Jared Polec insists there's no bitterness between he and former club Port Adelaide, despite the wingman admitting he was disappointed the Power didn’t offer him a new deal at the beginning of 2018.

Polec signed a five-year contract with the Kangaroos at the end of last season, following 90 games in five seasons with the Power.

Speaking in September, South Australian Polec said he was keen to get a deal done with Port early last season, and was disappointed when that didn't eventuate.

But he insists all is now fine following his shift to North Melbourne.

"There's definitely no bad blood at all, I've kept in touch with a few of the guys, and me and Ken Hinkley have had a few chats since then as well. There's definitely no bad blood," Polec told SEN SA Breakfast on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old averaged a career-best 25.1 possessions per game in 2018, and is determined to impress in his first year as a Roo under new coach Brad Scott.

"He's just happy for me to play a similar role to last year and try to develop and inside game as well. I'm really looking forward to the challenge," Polec said.

Taken by Brisbane with the fifth pick in the 2005 national draft, Polec played 16 matches with the Lions before crossing to Port.
