Essendon has confirmed that star forward Joe Daniher took part in match simulation at training this afternoon as he aims to be fit for the Round 1 clash against GWS.
Daniher has spent the majority of the summer training away from the main group in his attempts to shake the persistent groin problem which plagued him last year.
The 24-year-old played as a deep forward during his short hit out at Tullamarine and showed positive signs in his movement and ability to run and jump at the ball.
Speaking on SEN Breakfast last week, Bombers GM of Football Dan Richardson refused to put a definitive timeframe on when the spearhead will return to full fitness.
Daniher played the opening seven games of the 2018 season before being ruled out indefinitely and ultimately missing the remainder of the campaign.
