Cotchin: How Lynch will give the Tigers a “different dynamic”

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin says boom recruit Tom Lynch will provide a “different dynamic” for the Tigers up forward this season.

Lynch is embarking on his first season at Punt Road and Cotchin is excited about the prospect of the former Sun playing alongside Tigers spearhead Jack Riewoldt.

“I think it will be one of those things that adapts over time,” Cotchin told SEN Breakfast.

“No doubt by having a taller target, along with Jack (Riewoldt), down the line and so forth, it’s going to give us a get-out option more often, but he’s also such a fantastic aerobic athlete.

“He can get up the ground, he’s a very good presenting forward with the hit-up and so forth, so I think it will give us a bit of different dynamic to what we’re used to.

“I don’t think our actual structure and the way we plan to play the game will change all that much, it just might give us a strength in an area that we haven’t had as much of in the past.”

Cotchin is confident last season’s minor premiers can tinker their game plan to successfully integrate the 25-year-old forward.

“We’re such an adaptable group and we’ve shown over time that we’re flexible and people play roles,“ he added.

“I think that’s the key, it comes back to us not expecting Lynchy (Tom Lynch) to kick 50-or-60 goals, although that would be nice for the year, just to perform his role.”

Richmond play traditional rivals Carlton in their season opener at the MCG on March 21st.
