2019-02-08T17:45+11:00

Nick Haynes has signed a five-year contract extension with GWS.

The deal will tie the reliable defender to the Giants until at least the end of 2024.

Haynes, 26, has become a key pillar in the club’s defence, playing every game in 2018 and placing fifth in the Kevin Sheedy Medal.

Giants List Manager Jason McCartney described Haynes as one of "the most impressive” defenders in the competition.

“Firstly, to sign Nick Haynes on a five-year deal is a big coup for one of the most reliable defenders in the competition,” McCartney told GWS’ official website.

“Nick goes about his business quietly and sometimes doesn’t get the plaudits externally, but we see him as one of the most impressive defenders in the game and a key part of our defensive set-up.

“He’s a fantastic person and a great contributor to our football club and we couldn’t be happier to have him commit long term to the Giants."

GWS also announced the re-signing of small forward Brent Daniels who will remain a Giant until at least the end of 2021.
