Number one draft pick Nina Morrison has ruptured her ACL at a Geelong training session on Thursday night.
Scans today confirmed a rupture to her right ACL.
Coach Paul Hood is devastated about the result.
“It’s obviously an extremely disappointing situation for Nina and the club,” he said.
“Nina is a resilient young woman and will tackle her recovery from this injury as she does everything, with a determination and the precision to ensure she is back at 100 per cent for next season.”
“The club will offer its support and care to Nina as she begins her rehabilitation.”
The Cats will work to determine when surgery takes place within the next couple of days.
Morrison debuted for Geelong on Saturday and gathered 22 disposals, eight tackles and kicked the match-winning behind.
