Harley Bennell has suffered a fresh injury setback in his quest to play his first AFL game since 2017, according to The West Australian.
The Fremantle midfielder suffered a minor calf strain at training last Friday with a return date yet to be determined.
Bennell - who has been plagued by soft tissue problems in recent years - has played just two games for the Dockers since joining the club from the Gold Coast Suns at the end of 2015.
The 26-year-old had been enjoying a strong pre-season, according to Dockers coach Ross Lyon, but this blow highlights the fragile nature of his ongoing troubles.
Bennell signed a one-year contract extension at the end of last season.
Fremantle’s first JLT Community Series game is against Collingwood in Joondalup on Monday March 4.
