Utah NBA star Dante Exum is confident the Boomers can do some damage in the World Cup and Olympics.
With the majority of the players likely to represent the Boomers currently in the NBA, Exum thinks they’re better prepared than ever to challenge the US.
“Whether it’s guard heavy or big heavy, I think it’s just going to be a really good team,” Exum told NBA Now on 1377 SEN+.
“We have a bunch of guys who want to play and the greatest thing about it is everyone’s getting NBA experience.
“So when we go up against the US, Serbia and these NBA-heavy teams, we’re ready. We have the experience.
“I think that’s one of the main things that we have going for us going into this World Cup and the Olympics.”
Exum said the Jazz have given him clearance to play, pending his health.
“I’ve had a long chat with the Jazz about their position on me playing national teams and they’re all for it as long as I’m 100 per cent healthy,” he said.
“Hopefully come that time I’m healthy and I can put my best foot forward.”
Exum has missed portions of the season with an ankle injury, but is confident he can still help the Jazz as they make a run for the playoffs.
“I should be back in hopefully two weeks, it’s just one of those things that’s bugging me, but it’s feeling good right now,” he said.
“We’re on All-Star break and when we get back I should be right back into it.”
