The moment the Renegades believed in BBL miracle

2019-02-18T13:49+11:00

Kane Richardson says the wicket of Glenn Maxwell was the moment the Melbourne Renegades believed they could pull off the unlikeliest of wins in Sunday’s BBL Final.

Maxwell had already been given a life after Cameron White dropped a hot chance at cover with the Stars beginning to wobble after losing three quick wickets.

The wicket of the Stars skipper off the bowling of Chris Tremain moments later triggered a renewed sense of belief within the Renegades side, according to Richardson.

“I think getting (Glenn) Maxwell,” he told Big Bash Nation.

“We put down a tough chance at cover and you think he’s not going to give another one. I reckon getting him there and the look on the boys face coming in after it, I reckon they felt like they had so much to do.

“(Harry) Gurney and (Dan) Christian were so professional at the back-end to win us the tournament.”

The Renegades won by 13 runs after the Stars went from 0/93 to 7/112 in an extraordinary BBL decider at Marvel Stadium.
