Goddard not bitter with Bombers

2019-02-20T08:10+11:00

Former Essendon defender Brendon Goddard says he holds no grudges against the Bombers.

Goddard was delisted at the end of the 2018 season by the club and chose to retire rather than continue his career at another club.

He told The Sporting Capital that he is hoping to revisit The Hangar in the coming weeks.

“People probably think I’m bitter but no not at all,” Goddard said.

“I haven’t been out there, there was an opportunity to go out there and see Reidy, that’s Dr Bruce Reid, nearly two months ago now but I just wasn’t around.

“I’ve been thinking about it, just to go down and watch the boys train.

“I still keep in contact, haven’t caught up with them for a while, but saw a couple a couple of weeks ago on a golf course.”

Goddard is yet to make a decision on what he’d like to do this year, but is happy to take his time.

“I’m consciously taking my time to make a decision on what I want to do this year in particular,” he said.

“I consciously wanted to take these five to six months post my last game once I just made the decision to retire.

“I’ve just been spending more time with the family followed by a close second spending more time on the golf course.”

Goddard played 334 games for St Kilda and Essendon over his 15-year career.
