The new additions to AFLX that are raising eyebrows

2019-02-21T06:50+11:00

Rock, paper, scissors, nicknames and the Superboot are among the new additions to Friday’s AFLX tournament.

Instead of a coin toss, team captains will battle it out to choose which end their team will be kicking to.

The captains’ teammates are being encouraged to linger around the rock, paper, scissors staging to create banter.

Players also have the opportunity on the night to put nicknames on the back of their playing jerseys.

Some of the more peculiar nicknames belong to Mark Blicavs (Brown Fang) and Scott Pendlebury (Dippa).

Players also won’t be obliged to wear their club numbers on the night.

At the end of the night, the leading scoring player will receive a trophy called the Superboot.

When teams run out, they’ll have a hand-picked theme song chosen by the captains to be motivated by.

Fitting in with the theme of attracting a younger audience, there will be dedicated kids zones along the boundary line with novelty-sized games, face painters and balloon artists.
