Blues improvement could come "quicker than people think": Cripps

2019-03-04T11:47+11:00

Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps is confident his side is ready to start performing consistently and climbing the ladder.

The Blues won the wooden spoon, finishing with two wins in 2018. Cripps believes things are starting to click for the younger core of players.

“We’ve all worked really hard over the pre-season I think we got a lot of confidence out of the game on Thursday,” Cripps told SEN’s Whateley.

“I think a lot of these guys are starting to realise they’ve put in a lot of work to play consistent AFL footy and I think it might happen quicker than people think.”

Carlton’s midfield this year will consist of Cripps (23 years old), Paddy Dow (19), Sam Walsh (18), Zac Fisher (20), Lochie O’Brien (19), Will Setterfield (21), Matthew Kennedy (21) and Sam Petrevski-Seton (21).

Cripps is excited to see how the talent all comes together.

“It’s always excited to play with talented players and you’ve got (Paddy Dow), guys like Zac Fisher, Sam Walsh, Marc Murphy on the outside, it becomes a pretty dynamic mix,” he said.

“As a group, we’re pretty excited. We’ve only really just started playing together, but it’s really exciting going into the future.”
