Leadership the focus for star Roo Emma Kearney

2019-03-04T12:30+11:00

North Melbourne captain Emma Kearney says she is focusing on leading her side well rather than worrying about her own form.

Kearney has continued her Best and Fairest form this season, averaging 20.6 disposals so far this season.

But she isn’t worrying about her individual form, aiming to be the best team leader she can be.

“I’ve had a few quiet games here and there but I think for me it’s more about trying to be a better leader,” Kearney told SEN’s Whateley.

“I’ve got more responsibility being a captain and trying to make sure the people around me is better.

“At times, I know that I need to lift and try to get the team going.

“I was able to do that at some stage yesterday, unfortunately not long enough to get us the win, but I've still got areas in my game that I really want to get better at and I’ve been working pretty hard at trying to do that.”

North Melbourne lost top spot on the Conference A ladder with Sunday’s loss against the Crows, but will be hoping to bounce back against Collingwood on Saturday.
