Report: Lehmann to return to coaching

UPDATE: The Heat have confirmed the news and announced Lehmann as their new coach.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Darren Lehmann is set to return to the Brisbane Heat as their coach for the 2019/20 BBL season.

Lehmann hasn’t coached since resigning from the Australian team after the ball tampering scandal in South Africa.

The 49-year-old beat Queensland Bulls coach Wade Seecombe in what was reportedly a close race for the job.

Former Brisbane Heat captain Brendon McCullum and former Bulls skipper James Hopes were also in the running.

The former Australian coach takes over from former New Zealand international Dan Vettori, who resigned from the top job at the end of BBL|08.

Lehmann previously led the Heat to their only BBL title in 2012/13 BBL season.
