Plough's AFL snapshot: Geelong, Gold Coast, GWS

2019-03-15T07:11+11:00

Australian football Hall of Famer Terry Wallace has run his eye over all 18 teams’ performances in the JLT Series and come up with a snapshot to break down where they’re at.

Wallace spoke to SEN Afternoons on Tuesday to go through the teams.

Here’s what he said about Geelong, Gold Coast and GWS.

Geelong

JLT Performance: 1-1, 96.51%

“I think that they appear stronger than I expected, and I think that they’ll be thereabouts again.

“Esava Ratugolea balances the way their whole forward line works.

“They’re stronger than I expected them to be.”

Gold Coast

JLT Performance: 1-1, 81.03%

“I’m expecting it to be another difficult year.

“They got a result in their first game. It was a terrible game in terrible conditions and they might do that to somebody along the journey, but they got really shown to be battling through the middle of the ground on the weekend.”

GWS Giants

JLT Performance: 1-1, 102.99%

“They’ve still got good talent, but not as much depth as they don’t have as much depth as what they’ve had in the past.

“All of a sudden, there’s kids getting games that perhaps wouldn’t have gotten games in the past.

“My statement with them is the talent is still there, but not as much depth.

“I still expect them to make the eight because the high-end talent is so good.

“Whether they can be up there against the best of the best with the depth is a little concern.”
