“From a Hawthorn standpoint, I’m very nervous”: Wallace

2019-03-18T16:25+11:00

Three-time Hawthorn premiership player Terry Wallace is feeling a sense of trepidation ahead of his former club’s Round 1 match against Adelaide on Saturday.

Alastair Clarkson’s charges travel to South Australia to face the Crows on the back of two defeats in the JLT Community Series as well as the key loss of reigning Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell to a serious leg injury.

Travelling to Adelaide to face Don Pyke’s side will be one of the most difficult assignments for any team in 2019, according to Wallace.

“From a Hawthorn standpoint, I’m very nervous,” he told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“They’re going to Adelaide to play Adelaide. If you think back to the Crows’ first-ever game in this competition, Hawthorn were the reigning premiers and went over there in Round 1 and got belted by about 85 points.

“I’m pretty nervous about this upcoming game, I think it will be a difficult one.

“It’s a little bit of a shock to nothing, not many sides will go over to Adelaide and beat Adelaide.”

The last meeting at the Adelaide Oval between the two clubs resulted in a 14-point Hawthorn victory in 2017.

Garry Lyon, Tim Watson and Nick Riewoldt all had the Hawks missing the finals when they gave their ladder predications on SEN Breakfast this morning.
