GWS star Josh Kelly will miss Sunday’s Round 1 match against Essendon as he continues to build to full fitness.
The 2017 All-Australian didn’t feature in either of the club’s JLT matches after undergoing knee and hip surgery during the off-season.
Giants coach Leon Cameron opted to give 24-year-old Kelly another week to prepare after an interrupted pre-season.

“We never planned to play him in any of the JLT Community Series, we thought about playing him for a half in the intraclub, but he didn’t,” Cameron told gwsgiants.com.au.
The midfielder was restricted to 16 games last year due to a persistent groin injury.
