St Kilda recruit Dan Hannebery has stepped away from the club’s leadership group in order to focus on his injury rehabilitation, according to Fox Footy.
The three-time All-Australian has endured calf and hamstring problems throughout the pre-season and is still over a month away from a return.
Saints coach Alan Richardson told SEN Breakfast last week that Hannebery’s body has “struggled” and needs to be “rebuilt”.
The 28-year-old midfielder arrived at RSEA Park on a four-year deal with a trigger for a fifth worth a reported 800,000 a year from Sydney during last year’s trade period.
Veteran defender Nathan Brown has been added to the five-man leadership group on a casual basis.
