Melbourne has confirmed star ruckman Max Gawn spent time in hospital in the lead-up to their Round 1 clash with Port Adelaide.
Gawn’s performance in the game was questioned by many as Power players pushed him around and negated his usual dominance.
However, the Herald Sun reported Gawn had a minor procedure done to combat a skin infection last Wednesday.
The 2018 All-Australian ruckman required antibiotics to deal with the issue.
Gawn won 21 hit-outs and gathered 13 disposals in his side’s loss to the Power last Saturday.
