Dal Santo’s two “fine wine” veterans getting better with age

2019-04-03T13:58+11:00

Nick Dal Santo has heaped praise on two AFL veterans following their outstanding contributions in the opening two rounds.

The three-time All-Australian lauded the Round 1 display of Port Adelaide utility Justin Westhoff, helping his side to a shock victory over flag fancies Melbourne.

Westhoff, 32, notched his 250th game for the Power in their 16-point win over Carlton last Saturday.

“Round 1 is Justin Westhoff from the Port Adelaide Football Club,” Dal Santo told SEN Afternoons.

“18 disposals, nine marks, five goals, four contested marks and six inside 50s for a man that is apparently done and dusted – I thought he was absolutely superb.”

The former St Kilda and North Melbourne star also singled out the performance of Gold Coast stalwart Jarrod Harbrow in their thrilling three-point win over Fremantle on Sunday.

“For a team that hardly ever wins; haven’t won a game since Round 18 last year against the Sydney Swans, 32 disposals, nine marks, 12 intercept possessions, seven inside 50s – he did it all," Dal Santo said.

"He is elusive; he does it on the last line of defence, he does it 30 metres out from goal straight in front.”

Harbrow, 30, has played 226 AFL games, becoming the first Sun to reach the 150-game milestone and the inaugural player to be inducted as a life member.
