Former NRL star Valentine Holmes has joined the New York Jets as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program.
Holmes previously walked away from a multi-million dollar contract with Cronulla to pursue an NFL career.
He will play alongside the likes of running back Le’Veon Bell and quarterback Sam Darnold at the Jets.
Holmes will join the team’s practice squad but will not be eligible to play games during the 2019 season, due to being a Pathway player.
However, the 23-year-old will reportedly play all four pre-season games with New York.
The Pathway program gives elite athletes with limited American football knowledge a chance to play in a professional team and learn the game without the pressure of being let go.
We've added Valentine Holmes as part of the @NFL's International Player Pathway program.
