Why Katie Brennan left the Bulldogs for the Tigers

2019-04-09T11:30+10:00

Former Western Bulldogs co-captain Katie Brennan has made the move to Richmond because she craved a fresh start.

Brennan became the Tigers’ inaugural AFLW player earlier today ahead of their inception into the competition in 2020.

After battling injuries and missing the Grand Final, the 26-year-old says she's ready for a new start.

“This move for me was based on the fact that I feel like I need a fresh start with my football,” Brennan said.

“It’s been a pretty challenging few years with some ankle injuries and missing the Grand Final last year.

“In saying that, I’m so so excited to start a fresh year at Richmond and I can’t wait to meet my teammates.

Brennan is also thrilled to create history at the Tigers, signing a two-year deal as their marquee player.

“It’s amazing to be a part of something so special and to be able to start something really amazing here at the Richmond football club,” she said.

“They’ve had a fantastic season so far within the VFL Women’s and they’ve built some incredible foundations for future success to come with all the hard work.

“Kate Sheahan, Tommy Hunter and Neil Balme have done an incredible job so far.”

Brennan played 13 games for the Bulldogs and kicked 15 goals.
