Kane Cornes has questioned Adelaide’s “slow” and “sideways” game style under coach Don Pyke.
Pyke’s side slumped to 1-3 after a 12-point loss to North Melbourne, and the Port Adelaide great couldn’t believe the lack of urgency from the Crows when the game was in the balance.
They are the second lowest scoring team in the competition, averaging just over nine goals a game from the opening four rounds.
“They go slow, they go wide, they go sideways – this happened and time again,” Cornes told Footy SA.
“Matt Crouch wins the free kick; his first instinct at two goals down with eight minutes to go is to go short and wide.

“Why are Adelaide going short and wide when the game is on the line? He’s confused, you’ve got to roll on and make something happen.
“This is extraordinary. Six minutes left and once again game on the line, you’ve got an experienced player (Matt Crouch) who is in the leadership group, and where does he go? Backwards.
“Adelaide’s game style is as poor as I’ve seen it and Don Pyke – that’s your responsibility and you need to fix that.”
Adelaide host Gold Coast at Adelaide Oval in a Sunday twilight fixture.
