Hawks star inks long-term contract extension

2019-04-16T09:45+10:00

Hawthorn star Jaeger O’Meara has put pen to paper on a four-year contract extension.

The deal ties the Hawks midfielder to the club until at least the end of 2023.

O’Meara, 25, is in career-best form, averaging 28.7 disposals and 7.6 tackles from his three matches in 2019.

GM of Football Graham Wright says the former Rising Star winner is starting to fulfil his undoubted potential.

“We’re thrilled to have Jaeger recommit for another four seasons,” Wright told hawthornfc.com.au.

“It was a relatively easy decision from both parties. Both Jaeger and his management TLA made it a really smooth process, and it’s pleasing to have it sorted so early in the season.

“He’s become such an important player for us, not only through his on-field performance but also from a leadership sense as well.

“He sets a great example for his teammates with his professionalism and work ethic.

“We’re excited to watch his continued development over the coming years.”

O’Meara has played 30 games for Hawthorn since arriving from Gold Coast at the end of 2016.
