Melbourne Stars land former Test all-rounder from BBL rival

2019-04-15T17:57+10:00

The Melbourne Stars have confirmed the signing of Perth Scorchers all-rounder Hilton Cartwright on a multi-year deal.

Cartwright, 27, departs the Scorchers after scoring 455 runs in 31 games for franchise since debuting in BBL|02.

“I’m looking forward to new challenges and getting down to Melbourne this summer to play for the Stars,” Cartwright told melbournestars.com.au.

“I’ve heard great things about the club’s environment from past and present players, including Michael Beer and Marcus Stoinis, and already know a few of the other guys through various teams I’ve been involved with.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the Perth Scorchers for their support over the years. It was a tough decision to leave but one that I felt was right for the next phase of my cricket career.”

Cartwright hasn’t featured for Australia since playing two Tests and two one-day internationals in 2017.

The Stars are looking to go one better in BBL|09 after going down to rivals the Melbourne Renegades in last year’s final.
