Classy stayer Boom Time is set to resume in Saturday's Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400 metres) at Caulfield, and despite being the outsider of the field, jockey Cory Parish is expecting a bold run.
The Lindsay Park-trained seven-year-old was a shock winner of the G1 Caulfield Cup in 2017, scoring at odds of 50-1.
Boom Time is yet to win in eight first-up assignments and hasn't tasted victory under 1600 metres.
He also has top weight of 60kg to contend with.
"I rode him in a jump out at the farm a couple of weeks ago and he felt great. He's jumping out of his skin," Parish said.
"They might be too sharp for him first-up over 1400m, but he does have that bit of dash and he is the class horse of the field.
"He's got a nice draw, so I hopefully I can have him in a good position and he can finish off, then come on from the run."
Boom Time is a $31 outsider with tab.com.au, which has Manolo Blahniq favourite at $3.30 ahead of Naantali at $3.70.
Lindsay Park also has Fastnet Tempest ($14) in the race, with Craig Williams down to ride.
