Nick Riewoldt’s advice for Blues forward Charlie Curnow

2019-04-18T14:50+10:00

St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt has urged Carlton forward Charlie Curnow to improve his positioning in order to attract more ball.

Curnow, 22, has had an interrupted start to the season after sustaining a knee injury in the loss to Port Adelaide in Round 2.

In his 50th game for the club, the emerging Blue booted a goal and had 17 disposals in his return against Gold Coast last week.

Riewoldt wants to see Curnow stay a kick away from the ball and not get sucked up the ground.

“I just look at him in terms of ways that he can make life a little bit easier on himself,” Riewoldt told SEN Mornings.

“Go and position yourself a kick away from the footy, wherever the footy is.

“You’ve got the athletic capability to do that … and draw the ball. He’s getting far too close to the kicker on occasions and almost making himself irrelevant.”

Carlton take on the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday as they search for their first win of the season.
