“They were smacked”: AFL great expects Eagles reaction to snap Cats hoodoo

2019-04-25T07:53+10:00

After being “smacked” against Port Adelaide last week, Terry Wallace is expecting West Coast to come out firing against Geelong on Sunday.

The Eagles were comprehensively beaten by the Power to the tune of 42 points at Optus Stadium on Good Friday, their second loss of the 2019 campaign.

Adam Simpson’s star-studded midfield were well beaten in the clearances and the contested ball, resulting in a 38-71 inside 50 discrepancy.

But the AFL Hall of Famer believes the trip down to the Cattery is the perfect opportunity to lay down a marker in their quest for back-to-back flags.

“West Coast are just going at the moment … they were smacked in the middle of the ground,” Wallace told SEN Afternoons.

“In a premiership year, the top two in their Best and Fairest were Elliot Yeo and Jack Redden.

“You had the Norm Smith Medallist being another in Luke Shuey and you’ve got Andrew Gaff as the All-Australian of the group … for them to get belted like they did … I’m expecting a reaction this week down at Geelong.

“The only game that they’ve played really good football was the Grand Final replay.”

West Coast’s last win in Geelong came in Round 10, 2006.
